Michael L. Green Jr., MD, FACS, FASMBS, is Medical Director of Bariatric Surgery for Medical City Fort Worth.
He currently practices at the Live by Losing in Fort Worth, Texas. A native of Indianapolis, IN, Dr. Green attended the Benjamin Banneker Honors College at Prairie View A & M University and went to medical school at the Indiana University School of Medicine. His passion for treating morbid obesity began during his five years of residency training at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria.
He went on to complete an advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgery fellowship at Providence Hospital, affiliated with Howard University, in Washington, D.C. Dr. Green uses a minimally invasive approach to surgical weight reduction and has trained residents and senior surgeons in minimally invasive surgery.
He has also served as a preceptor for other surgeons who are beginning in the field of bariatric surgery. In addition to bariatric surgery, Dr. Green performs various advanced general surgery laparoscopic procedures. These include laparoscopic splenectomy, colon and small bowel resections, adrenalectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repairs and treatment of gastric and peptic ulcers.
He is board certified and affiliated with several professional organizations: American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery; Texas Association of Bariatric Surgeons; International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity; National Medical Association; Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons; He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
