Dr. Wendy Greene, MD, FACS is the first African American Female Professor of Surgery at Emory University and the Director of the Acute and Critical Care Surgery Service of Emory University Hospital and an attending in the hospital’s Surgical Intensive Care Unit.
She received her MD from the Howard University College of Medicine, Washington, DC. Her postgraduate medical training included a residency in general surgery at Howard University Hospital, a surgical critical care fellowship at the Washington Hospital Center, and a trauma critical care fellowship at INOVA Fairfax Hospital.
She is the chair of the DEI committee for southeastern surgical congress (SESC) as well as the Emory Critical Care Center. She is the founding member of the African American Women’s Collaborative an inter professional affinity group Emory school of medicine.
Her mission is to move beyond data analytics to the next phase of process development and policy implementation with a goal to make measurable improvements in healthcare outcomes and health justice policies.
As a board member of the Surgical Leaders Foundation she uses her gift and talents to improve outcomes in the community through mentorship and development of the next generation of healthcare professionals.
